Helping a Survivor Start Fresh

Rooted Interiors had the honor of rooting another family at home. This rooting day was particularly moving as we had the privilege of serving a courageous 23-year-old single mother and her son, Wolflon. Her story is one of unimaginable hardship, resilience, and ultimately, faith in God’s guidance.

A Journey Through Darkness

This young mother’s path has been marked by pain and adversity. As a survivor of both narcissistic and physical abuse—first from her own parents and then from her child’s father—she has faced challenges that most of us can’t imagine. She endured homelessness repeatedly, every time she attempted to escape the toxic grip of her mother. “It felt like I was trapped in misery, with no way out,” she shared.

While pregnant with Wolflon, she endured violence from her son’s father. One week after her birthday, he slammed her to the ground, causing her to go into labor early. Yet, even amidst the chaos, she found hope and strength in her newborn son. “Wolflon is God’s mercy and love for me,” she explained. He gave her a reason to fight for a better life, even when those closest to her refused to help.

"God told me I had to leave, and I did”, she says. She left with nothing but her son, her faith, and a dream of a life free from abuse.

Rooted in Hope: Creating a Safe Haven

This brave mother and Wolflon found refuge at Wellroot Family Services and were eventually nominated to Rooted Interiors once they secured permanent housing. When we met her, we knew our mission wasn’t just about furnishing a house—it was about creating a sanctuary of healing, love, and new beginnings.

She requested a cozy home, dreaming of a place where her children could feel safe. We filled the space with intentional details that reflected her personality and dreams:

  • A home with bold and bright colors that will uplift her spirit

  • A peaceful bedroom that promotes healing

  • An space for her son- who loves cars and trucks

When she walked into her new home, it was clear that this space wasn’t just a place to live—it was a fresh start. A reminder that she and Wolflon were no longer alone, and that God’s love had carried them through.

The Power of God’s Grace

This Rooting Day reminded us that our work goes far beyond decorating homes—it’s about delivering hope and offering families a new beginning. Through God’s grace, we were able to show this mother that she is not defined by her past, but by the strength she has found in her faith and her love for Wolflon.

As we reflect on this special day, we are grateful to have played a part in their journey. It is moments like these that reaffirm the purpose of Rooted Interiors—to help families plant roots, grow in love, and remain stable in their new homes.

God’s love carried her through, and with the help of our community, we know her story is just beginning.
